Q & A

What are admission requirements?

Students must have a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate from a school in the United States of foreign equivalent. Students must have Nevada health insurance coverage and be 18 years old by the end of the program.

To be placed in their clinical practical work rotation, also called externship (required for class completion), students must provide documentation they have received vaccinations or are immune to a number of diseases.

Also required are a drug screen and background check

What other healthcare programs do you offer?

None, so you are never ‘upsold’ to more expensive programs. We specialize in phlebotomy.

What is the student to teacher ratio?

Our classes have a maximum of 15 students with one instructor, to allow for hands-on training. All our instructors have many years of experience in the field of phlebotomy. They work at local labs or hospitals.

Do you offer or accept federal grants or offer financial aid?

Our program is less than $2500, we do not offer financial aid. We do allow students to make a deposit and ‘pay as they go’ over the 11 weeks of class.

Do you offer online classes?

No, learning to draw blood is both an art as well as a science. It requires hands-on learning and practice to get good at it. That is also why we place students in 50 hour-long practical training work rotations at local labs and hospital. The more practice, the better the chances of a job afterwards. Our classes do require the student do much of the academic work – reading and homework – outside of class.

Do you offer a National Phlebotomy Technician exam?

We are an official testing center for the NCCT National Phlebotomy Technician Certification (NCPT) exam. This option enables our students to be fully qualified in Nevada and nationally when they graduate! We have a 91% pass rate!

How do I get a Nevada Phlebotomy License?

In the State of Nevada, phlebotomists are recognized as Lab Assistants and Office Lab Assistants. Lab Assistants are phlebotomists who work in an independent licensed lab (not a doctor’s office). Upon successful completion of this course you are qualified to take one of the following National Phlebotomy Technician Certification exams offered by these organizations: NCCT, AMT and NHA.

The national certification qualifies you for the Nevada Laboratory Assistant License (Phlebotomy License).

Do you do job placement?

We want nothing more than for all our graduates to get jobs, so we are committed to give you as much assistance as we can to get you a job.

However, realistically, nobody can guarantee you a job once you have graduated. Employers decide which applicants they will hire based on many criteria – including an aptitude/personality test and how well the applicant will fit into the existing team.

Where are the jobs?

Virtually all phlebotomy jobs are offered online either by job sites or on the lab/hospital websites. According to the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (May 2017) the Phlebotomist Mean Wage in Nevada $37,270. Check out below who is currently hiring.

Is the school accredited or licensed?

The school is regulated and licensed by the State of Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education.

Our phlebotomy program is approved by:

NCCT

Phlebotomy Technician – NCPT exam

AMT (American Medical Technologists)
Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT) exam

NHA (National Healthcareer Association)
Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam

We do not offer any degree programs, so we are not accredited.
